Both Tesco’s and Sainsbury’s will deliver to your property and wine society or similar can be delivered to Glenferness House prior to your arrival if you want to get in a few nice bottles for a larger group.
There are plenty of river and woodland paths and tracks to walk. Depending on the season some areas maybe out of bounds due to the shooting season. Dogs are strictly to be on leads in these areas at this time. The gated garden area at the back of Glenferness House is kept for the family. For more info please read the information pack provided in each of the properties.
Whilst we are more than happy to welcome well behaved dogs, we would be grateful if you would observe a few guidelines first.
Dogs are welcome in all our properties apart from in The Studio.
Well behaved and trained dogs can be let off the lead. Dogs that tend to run off uncontrollably or chase must be on a lead. We live amongst a lot of wildlife, squirrels, deer, rabbits and hares to name a few. The fields quite often have sheep grazing and depending on the season we may have a lot of pheasants on the ground.
Dog poo should be either picked up in bags (which you will have to provide yourself) and disposed of in the general rubbish or ask for a spade (which we can provide) and throw it away from the paths into the bushes.
If you are coming from the south Aviemore is the main station but sometimes trains stop in Carrbridge which is 10 mins closer to us.
Alternatively Nairn or Forres would be the next closest.
There is not any public transport. You either want to come by taxi, hire a car or come in your own car ideally.
No, we do not tolerate smoking in any of our properties. However, it’s absolutely fine to smoke outdoors but Cigarette butts must be put out properly and put in the general rubbish bin.
Arrival time is 4-6pm unless otherwise stated. For example; if we haven’t had anyone in before you we can have the house open and ready for you in the morning. Departure time is 10am unless otherwise stated. For example; if we haven’t got anyone in after you we can be more relaxed and give you extra time to leave. All of this can be discussed prior to your arrival.
Yes, all heating and electricity is included.
Both the Stable Cottages and Wooden House run off the Biomass system which is a wood chip boiler fuelled by our own timber.
Balintore has central heating.
The Studio is electrically heated which does cost more so we would appreciate if guests would take this into account and try to avoid leaving windows and the front door open whilst the radiators are on full.
Bed linen and towels are provided.
For the Wooden House there’s an extra £10 per person.
If you have time please could you strip the beds and put towels in a pile ready for the cleaners.
It will depend on your network. The ones that work the best are O2 and EE.
Most properties get phone signal if you try placing your device on a windowsill. The only exception might be Balintore.
We can provide equipment for you to enjoy the pool table, ping pong. If you’d like to play squash we ask for you to bring your own rackets.
Trout fishing is available but you must bring your own rods and tackle. It is strictly “Fly fishing ONLY”.
If you want to go bicycling you must bring your own bikes.
You must bring your own shoes. For young children it is ok for them to use the wall in “Clean trainers”. They must be clean or they will mark the wall which can’t be cleaned.
We have an EV charging point on site. You can charge your vehicle for £20 per charge. Please arrange this with us.
