What Our Guest's Say
I have visited Glenferness for years, staying at both The Wooden House and Balintore depending on the group size. For larger groups, the wooden house was ideal - spacious yet cosy with comfortable beds, a large kitchen (very well equipped) and easy access to the estate. I have used The Wooden House as a location for filming as well as entertaining and it never fails to impress! As a wheelchair user, I find the house meets my needs as well as it is step-free throughout and the bathrooms are big enough to manoeuvre in. The baths are out of this world!
I highly recommend a visit to this beautiful estate. Whether you go for the scenery, the fishing, the quiet or the space - you will return feeling refreshed, having had the pleasure of stepping out of the rush and into a breathtaking part Scotland where time stands still.

I have been coming to the Findhorn and staying at Glenferness for more than 15 years. I first came with a fishing party. We all fell in love with the landscape and the trees surrounding the wooden house, it’s quirky, with an enthralling coziness, and of course, the local pub in Cawdor. It soon became the best holiday of the year.
I started to visit the estate twice annually with the fishing party, to enjoy the different seasons, and I now have three small children and we come at least five times a year! The kids adore it: trampolines, ping-pong, climbing, paddling and skimming stones... The adults get to read books, walk and sleep.
All of this is greatly facilitated by the generosity and warm welcome shown by Alexander and his mother Julie who own the estate. This place is a real hidden treasure.

The East Stables cottage is a great place for a family of four to stay. The location is fantastic in the grounds of Glenferness house, surrounded by beautiful trees with the Findhorn river just a few minutes walk from the front door.
For children it's a great place, with a squash court, indoor climbing wall and outdoor trampoline. The cottage is well equipped and very comfortable. Glenferness is ideally situated, being close to many outdoor activities around the Aviemore and Cairngorm area and also the Moray firth coast. Grantown is within 30 minutes drive along a very beautiful road.
Staying here you are in a very quiet, peaceful spot but not far from anywhere. I would highly recommend this cottage.
